Japanese women are known for their smooth and straight hair. Although genetics may have a hand in it, that is not always the case. Just like anything in beauty, it can be achieved through the use of the proper techniques. Japanese Hair Straightening or Thermal Reconditioning is a method that straightens the hair while locking in moisture and shine.

Chicago Style – Japanese Hair Straightening first burst into the scene in the late 1990s in Japan but it quickly made it its way around the world, including the United States. Today, it has firmly established itself as one of the most popular treatments to get a better head of hair.

The Process
Japanese Hair Straightening makes use of chemicals to alter the texture of the hair. Most of the chemicals used, such as Liscio and Yuko, are manufactured in Japan. The entire process can last as long as three to six hours because it involves several steps. The hair is shampooed, heated under lamps, blown out, and ironed. Although it may sound like a lot, these steps are designed to not only straighten but also to give shine to the hair. After the process is completed, the hair must be kept away from moisture over the next 48 hours to retain its effects.

The Result
Japanese Hair Straightening guarantees permanently straight hair. Of course, the fact that hair grows means that it may need to be retouched after four to six months, depending on how fast it grows. What differentiates Japanese Hair Straightening from other straightening techniques is that the hair does not dry out. This means that it can move and reflect light the way naturally straight hair does.

Considerations
Japanese Hair Straightening works best on hair that has not been recently treated with chemicals. Avoid coloring, bleaching or curling your hair if you are planning on getting your hair straightened. Otherwise, the hair may end up dry and brittle from exposure to too many chemicals. If your hair was treated, tell the hairstylist so that the amount of chemicals used can be adjusted to achieve the best results. In most cases, a hair strand test is done to ensure that the hair will react well with the chemicals.

Aftercare
Maintain the soft, smooth texture of hair after straightening by protecting it from the sun. Although the systems involved in Japanese Hair Straightening were designed to keep the hair healthy, chemicals are still used. To keep the hair healthy, condition the hair frequently after the treatment in accordance to the recommendations of the hairstylist. Also, avoid coloring you hair for at least a month after it was straightened.

Frizzy, unruly hair can be a thing of the past thanks to Japanese Hair Straightening treatment of Chicago area – Salon Trendz.

Many of us are suffering with unauthorized holes burned into our pockets and our money slowly dropping by the wayside. Higher gas prices, higher food prices and the same ole’ bills keep us questioning how to pamper ourselves and keep our hair looking great.

Chicago – Salon Trendz in the suburb of Palos Heights is a bit of sunshine on the horizon during these dark days of economical hardship. Gas prices are hitting us where it hurts, and lots of people are bracing themselves for hard times, but this hair salon outside of Chicago’s dowtown is offering women good value for their dollar.

Beauty bargain is possible

For those used to a certain amount of pampering, Salon Trendz makes it possible to maintain your looks without breaking the bank. Periodically, the salon offers various services at a discount, allowing you to stretch your hard-earned buck. Right now, for instance:

The salon is hosting a contest to give one lucky woman FREE Japanese hair straightening, a service worth more than $600. (The Salon Trendz Makeover Contest winner will be selected soon. Go to the website — SalonTrendz.com — for contest-entry details.

New clients get a 40 percent discount on eyebrow threading if they wish to try this alternative to waxing and tweezers.

Existing customers can get their bangs trimmed for FREE in between regular haircut appointments.

A one-on-one lesson with a hair stylist to learn how to blow-dry and style your hair like a professional is currently discounted by $25, even though it’s an hour-long session.

Hair and makeup consultations are a complimentary service of the salon.

Clients can save gas money by emailing a hair photo and phone number to the stylists, who will consult with them over the phone FREE of charge.

Women who purchase the Japanese hair straightening service will be entitled to a free haircut through the end of August. (This offer must be mentioned when making your reservation in order to receive the bonus haircut. This sale expires Aug. 29 and may not be combined with any other special.)

These bargains are proof that we don’t need to let uncertain economic times cause panic. We just need to be smart with the funds that we have and how we use them. Maybe we should cut back on the weekly coffee drinks. Perhaps we ought to keep the old car going for another year or two, or cut out a few restaurant meals, or plan a “stay-cation” instead of a vacation involving plane tickets. We also need to ask ourselves “Where does the beauty budget fall when weighing financial priorities?”

There’s no need to do something hasty like putting an end to all your salon visits, but you might want to consider ways to continue your beauty maintenance with frugality in mind. Maybe you could stretch a buck by changing your hairstyle to something less demanding – a style that requires less upkeep.

Sit down and calculate how much you are spending on hair care products: shampoo, conditioner, straightening balm, anti-frizz serum, hair spray, products for shine, hair-dryers, special brushes and straightening irons. Then consider how much time it takes you to fix your hair every morning or before you head out in the evening. What is your time worth? Jot that down. Now add it all up. We’re not talkin’ about mere pocket change here!

There’s one option that requires an investment up front, but earns big dividends over the long haul. Many women are choosing to get Japanese hair straightening because it allows them to reduce the overall number of visits to the salon during the year and lets them ditch most of their hair products and styling tools. Thermal reconditioning controls unruly hair long term, giving you shine, smoothness and locks that require minimal styling on a daily basis. You’ve heard the adage “Time is money,” and that saying fits the rational for Japanese straightening perfectly! Plus, don’t forget that Salon Trendz management is throwing in a free haircut with thermal reconditioning through the end of August.

Do you dream of straight, silky hair? Are you tired of wasting hours of your life toiling in front of the mirror with a flat-iron or blow-dryer? Then Japanese hair straightening may be the solution for you.

Women who are unhappy with their unruly hair can point the finger at genetics. Whether your hair is curly or straight depends on the shape of your hair follicles and how the hair grows from them. Straight hair comes from round follicles, and curly hair comes from elongated oval-shaped follicles. The texture of curly hair causes it to be drier and prone to frizzing. While natural oils from the scalp can slide easily down straight hair shafts, it’s less apt to on curly hair. Some heads naturally sport thicker manes. The average brunette, for example, has 80,000 to 100,000 hairs, whereas a blonde has about one-third more hair up top.

Women want what they want, and many have decided to wage war with their natural hair type. Hair styling has been around for eons and is constantly improving. Advances in straight-iron technology have made heat-styling more practical at home; however, the process has to be repeated daily. This conventional straightening mode works by breaking down the hydrogen bonds in each hair shaft, leaving the hair straighter. Unfortunately, all it takes to restore those bonds is a little moisture. A little rain…some humidity…and “Poof!” Your hair returns to its natural state, and you have to drag out the straightening iron again.

Japanese hair straightening, however, puts an end to this damaging cycle. The hair is treated at a salon once with a solution that breaks down those hydrogen bonds, and then the hair is re-conditioned with heat. The hair is smoothed with an iron, section by section. The process takes a minimum of three hours and up to eight if you have super-long, ultra-curly or über-thick hair. The end result is glossy straight hair for more than half a year, depending on individual growth rate. (If you have extremely curly hair, you might need a little touch-up at the roots after a while.)

Results will vary with each client, so a consultation with a hair professional is imperative before having the treatment. You can schedule an appointment at the salon or – at the very least – send in a current photograph by email and consult with a stylist over the phone.

Email a recent photo to Salon Trendz for an over-the-phone quote

Initially, there is a financial investment for this treatment, but this should be compared to the cost of your normal beauty routine over the course of a year. How much money do you spend on straightening gels, high-gloss serums and flat irons, and how much is your time worth? Count the cost, and then decide.

Reputable salons use high-end straightening solutions, and this is reflected in the price. Often, more than one stylist is involved in the procedure, too. You can shop for competitive prices, but be careful. Bargain basement fees may be a red flag. You’re better off paying a little more for a stylist with expertise, so that you’ll end up with hair that dreams are made of.
